Resumen
El cambio de paradigmas que trajo consigo el posmodernismo implicó una ruptura de la dualidad existente entre medio ambiente y sociedad. El artículo pretende ilustrar brevemente las principales corrientes teóricas que se han encargado de erosionar tal dualidad al considerar el medio ambiente como un elemento indisolublemente ligado a los fenómenos sociales. Se partirá de un análisis del marxismo semiótico para explicar cómo dicho concepto hace las veces de plataforma teórica de las principales ramas del conocimiento que abordan el tema objeto de análisis. Por último, se recurrirá a la noción foucauldiana[WU1] de conocimiento/poder para demostrar cómo el auge del llamado Conocimiento ecológico o Eco-Knowledge ha logrado relativizar el concepto de soberanía del Estado al generar estándares disciplinarios medioambientales que, a través de diversos organismos multilaterales, imponen obligaciones de naturaleza vinculante a los Estados.
