Abstract
The article compares the figures of criminal news about abortion and those that different organizations have reported on the occurrence of this fact in society, in addition to describing the legislation and jurisprudence on abortion as a typical conduct. From this comparison, it was found that there is an underreporting and, to explain this, two hypotheses are proposed: a) the State does not have the mechanisms to prosecute this conduct, or b) it is possible that, in Colombia, abortion is socially accepted. Finally, it is questioned whether this behavior is still prosecuted and the possibility of finding other public policy measures to regulate this phenomenon is defended.
