Abstract

Venezuelans looks like they are learning about democracy, but it’s different: they know it, they desire it, and they seek to rebuild it better. But that reconstruction faces a double challenge, bringing justice for serious crimes and, at the same time, envisioning a transition for which there is no blueprint. In this process, 21st century transitions offer new normative, institutional, and global tools that could make change faster and more demanding. The question is how to bring about that change without repeating the mistakes of the past. That is what we are working on.
