Manipulation resources and influence of the Cuban regime in the electoral system

Abstract

In the Republic of Cuba, the existence of a democratic order is defended, which has a guaranteed participation from the right of every Cuban citizen to be a voter and be elected; and also ensures that its electoral system has specific foundations that ensure equal opportunities for all candidates to the different state bodies, because "they receive the same treatment and consideration in their relations with the electoral authorities, voters, state agencies and institutions, mass media and the population in general" (Law No. 127 "Electoral Law", 2019, art. 85). 127 "Electoral Law" , 2019, art. 85) However, in this country it has been possible to evidence various obstacles that the Cuban population presents when participating and actively influencing decisions in the territory, especially, if they do not argue in favor of the ideology of the regime.
