Abstract

At the V Inter-University Film Festival for Democracy, a documentary that exceeded expectations was screened: "Pronuncia mi nombre" (Speak my name). This film delves into the sad reality of the mothers of the victims of the civil war in El Salvador, unearthing the stories of a war that many preferred to forget, demonstrating that the wounds of a painful past still persist. The uniqueness of this screening lies in the fact that, unlike other short films and films presented during the same festival that portrayed realities of "old" regimes such as Cuba or Venezuela, in the case of El Salvador the violation of human rights is a recent chapter, and each artistic manifestation is evidence of a criticism of the government in power.
