Abstract
This paper proposes a reflection on the Cuban economy based on the criterion that the person must be considered as the center and end of economic activity. Rather than pursuing the traditional goals of growth and economic efficiency, the economy must, above all, be at the service of the person. To this end, both the State and the market must complement and articulate themselves as means of guaranteeing the primacy of the individual and promoting his or her full development. The objective of this work is to think on these issues -little debated in the Cuban realitybut that it´s necessary to address them so that the change that the economy needs advances for a coherent path with the Integral Human Development.
