The Foro Cubano Journal adheres to a code of ethics aimed at both editors, evaluators and authors, which is based on the parameters of the Committee on Ethics in Publications (COPE). This seeks to guarantee, to the scientific community, that the Journal and its content promote integrity in the publication of research articles and their scientific quality.
The Journal does not accept behaviors such as plagiarism and will be responsible for verifying, through the use of specialized software, the level of originality of the manuscript. Any information about an unethical behavior must be done in writing and accompanied by tangible, reliable and sufficient evidence to initiate an investigation process.
Any unethical behavior on the part of the authors or evaluators of which the journal has knowledge or is informed about, will be examined in first instance by the Editor and the Editorial Committee of the journal. The complaint about unethical behavior by the Editor or the Editorial Committee of the journal should be reported to the Director of the journal.
An unethical behavior, which the Editor considers minor, can be treated between him and the authors without additional consultations. In any case, authors must have the opportunity to respond to complaints made for unethical behavior. Serious unethical behavior must be notified to the institutions of institutional affiliation of the authors or who supports the research.
Results (in increasing order of severity, may be applied separately or in combination):
- Inform the authors or reviewers where there seems to be a misunderstanding or bad practice of the ethical standards.
- Send an official communication addressed to the authors or reviewers indicating the lack of ethical conduct and serve as a precedent for good behavior in the future.
- Make a formal public notification detailing the misconduct based on the evidence of the investigation process.
- Make an editorial page that denounces in detail the misconduct based on the evidence of the investigation process.
- Send a formal letter addressed to the institutions of institutional affiliation of the authors who in turn support or finance the research process.
- Make corrections, modifications or, if necessary, withdraw the article from the publication of the journal, closing the indexing services and the number of readers of the publication and informing the institution of affiliation of the authors and the reviewers of this decision.
- Make an official embargo of five years to the author, period in which he will not be able to publish again in the journal.
- Report the case and the result of the investigation before the competent authorities, in case the good name of the Sergio Arboleda University is compromised.
