Sexual division of labor and ethics of care in Cuba
Abstract
Commonly, when we think of the revolutionary project that originated in Cuba during the second period of the 20th century, we usually think of images, thoughts and ideas of great and profound transformations in the political, economic, social and cultural spheres, which gave way to a new social and economic structure in opposition to the capitalist model. However, by understanding the concept of revolution as a change in the forms of production, we can see that the new social order did not pretend to detach itself from sexist structures, and, on the contrary, allowed its deepening and dynamization. This is because in the past and at present, the economic model proposed by the Cuban government continues to reduce the role of women to the domestic sphere, and to reduce spaces for women's participation in other sectors of the economy.
