Abstract

Age discrimination is a pervasive and normalized phenomenon in society. Formally, this is known as ageism and tends to be directed with greater recurrence to older adults, as it is part of the construction of imaginaries and perceptions that place old age and aging as something negative, an issue that is evidenced in the common ideology in which being over 60 years old is related to decadence, illness, dependence and other synonyms that homogenize, without the slightest rigor, a broad population group that has a lot to say about population group that has a lot to say and contribute but that has been progressively relegated and limited has been progressively relegated and limited to such perceptions.
