For the Chinese government, it's not enough to win medals
Abstract
The mechanisms used by the Chinese regime to exercise close and effective control over its population and consequently over its athletes, who must not only win medals and leave their country's name on high but must also adhere to the prototype of the athlete built by the regime, namely: an athlete who, in addition to being an expert in his or her sport, does not criticize what is established and on the contrary defends the ideals under which the authoritarianism of the Chinese regime with the Communist Party at its head is based, are well known.
