A revolution of its own?
Abstract
A brief overview of the current context reveals several key points. First, it points to the robust existence of legal frameworks and institutional tools to address the problems that affect both rural and urban women, based on a diagnosis of the existing barriers that prevent and/or limit the exercise of their political and civil rights; for example, at the international level, Nicaragua has ratified five international instruments and six national regulatory frameworks aimed at gender equality (Álvarez, 2014).
