Abstract

In this text, I would like to share the experience I had with a group of older adults (hereafter PAM) that I interviewed in two rural and two urban areas in northern Mexico (similar to the Cuban case). In this fieldwork, where intimate and face-to-face contact was made with the elderly, it was possible to observe the issue of the digital divide in this group. A digital divide that has to do more than anything else with contextual issues, where multiple rights have not been guaranteed to the older adult population (such as education, housing, and decent work, among others), being immersed in situations of multidimensional poverty, adversity, and uncertainty.
