Abstract

It is not uncommon for all of us to have a relative or neighbor over 60 years of age and to be concerned about their health, diet, living conditions, degree of satisfaction with various areas of life, etc. According to the World Health Organization (2002), quality of life is a person's perception of his or her position in life within the cultural context and value system in which he or she lives and with respect to his or her goals, expectations, standards and concerns. It is also made up of a series of aspects that are defined as objective, subjective and social. Reflecting on the quality of life, well-being and vulnerability of the elderly in Cuba is a very recurrent topic in the family, labor and social scenario at present. The fundamental causes of these constant reflections, in my opinion, are the worsening of the structural economic crisis and the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic that have deeply impacted this population group.
