Digital divide and ageism: the experience of older people attending training courses on the use of digital technology and social networks

Abstract

Some time ago, when people spoke of the digital divide, they referred to the lack of technological and telecommunications infrastructure. Today, this digital divide is caused by reasons beyond the material barriers related to technology. Issues related to the individual's geographic location, educational level, political participation and age stand out. It is this last reason that has motivated this paper.
