Abstract

Cuba is experiencing the largest migratory exodus in its history. The economic, social and political crisis of the population worsened terribly during the Covid-19 Pandemic (2019-2023), for which reason, a record number of Cubans have made the decision to migrate. In the following, in light of the migrants' testimonies, the historical and conjunctural factors that have led to the humanitarian crisis are presented and analyzed. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez announced the opening of borders on November 15, 2021, and since then the mass exodus has been relentless.
