The Journey to Glory: Challenges and Opportunities for Refugee Athletes at the Olympics
Abstract
The Refugee Olympic Team was created by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to allow athletes displaced by conflict and persecution to compete in Olympic Games. Since its first participation in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the team has been the hope and resilience, providing a new horizon to those who, due to the situation in their countries of origin, will not be able to participate where they are subjected to authoritarian regimes that do not respect their individual rights.
