Abstract

The covid-19 pandemic brought with it the confinement and loss of work for most transgender women sex workers in Cuba. However, for Penelope this health and economic crisis far from affecting her, what it did was to fill her pockets. In addition, she developed her activism on the island in defense of the rights of sexual minorities, as well as protests in the authoritarian Cuban context. This testimony is part of the anthropological doctoral thesis related to the experiences of trans women sex workers in Cuba.
