Abstract

Hijos de la Revolución is an independent Venezuelan feature film directed by Carlos Caridad-Montero and produced by Amaury Mogollón in collaboration with AP Films, released in 2023. Most of the film was shot in Venezuela, with some scenes shot in Santiago de Cali, Colombia. This film offers an in-depth reflection on the political, social and economic changes in Venezuela over the past 25 years, from the 1992 coup d'état to the 2017 protests. The film, told through a story of love and drama, uses a documentary approach that has been acclaimed at international festivals such as the International Human Rights Film Festival in Colombia and the Chicago Film Festival. However, it has not yet been released in Venezuela due to lack of registration as a national production with the Centro Nacional Autónomo de Cinematografía (CNAC). Through powerful testimonies, the film recounts the experiences of millions of Venezuelans, from those who went into exile to the imprisoned and displaced, as well as those who are still resisting within the country.
