Abstract

July 11, 2021 (hereinafter 11J) marked a turning point in Cuba's recent history. Thousands of citizens took to the streets in various cities of the country to demonstrate peacefully against the health and economic crisis, and the lack of political and civil liberties; “although there is no official data on the size of the protests, some media reported that ‘thousands’ or ‘tens of thousands’ of Cubans took to the streets and spoke of the ‘mobilized people’ (Bobes, 2024, p. 152).”
