Abstract

July 11, 2021 (hereinafter 11J) marked a turning point in Cuba's recent history. Thousands of citizens took to the streets in various cities across the country to peacefully protest against the health and economic crises and the lack of political and civil liberties. “Although there are no official figures on the size of the protests, some media outlets reported that ‘thousands’ or ‘tens of thousands’ of Cubans took to the streets and spoke of the ‘mobilized people’ (Bobes, 2024, p. 152).
