Abstract

Gaslighting is an instrument of manipulation that can be used to define the workings of power in today's world. Psychologist Stephanie A. Sarkis puts it clearly in her book Gaslighting: Recognize Manipulative and Emotionally Abusive People - and Break Free. She takes as a reference the film Gaslighting (1944) in which a man manipulates his wife, making her believe that she has lost her mind.
