The ternilla: differentiated sales for political purposes

Abstract

In other works we have addressed the issue of the differentiated distribution of food resources by the government for political and social control purposes. This procedure, which dates back to the early years of the so-called Special Period in the 1990s, aims at a "positive" management of popular discontent, avoiding demonstrations and hunger protests within the most impoverished communities in Cuba.
