Abstract

Cuba's economic and political situation is dual; there is a public image carefully constructed over decades to show a facade of dignity and self-sacrificing development of the little David before the capitalist and enormous Goliath. A little further inland, the situation is complex and seems to have lost any point of return years ago.
On the economic front, the country has been facing challenges for years due to the lack of foreign investment and the U.S. embargo, which are not negligible. However, more internally, we are faced with a centralized economic structure with poor management that has been dragging on since the beginning of the Revolution.
