About the Journal

Aims and Scope

Civilizar: Ciencias Sociales y Humanas is an international scientific publication, peer-reviewed under the blind review modality, and available in digital edition (ISSN-L 1657-8953). Its aim is to facilitate the interdisciplinary dialog, the academic exchange, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge in the fields of law, politics, economics, humanities, and philosophy. Journal Civilizar has an international focus, mainly on Latin America. As a policy of self-evaluation, we seek continuous improvement of editorial processes. Edited by Universidad Sergio Arboleda.

Publication Frequency

Each year, we publish two issues with a continuous publication method for the periods January–June and July–December. The call for papers is permanent, and all articles are subject to a double-blind peer review process .

Article processing charge (APC) and article submission charges
In compliance with an Open Access editorial policy, Civilizar does not charge authors for the submission, evaluation, or publication of papers.  Universidad Sergio Arboleda assumes the editorial production costs. All issues are available with free access and can be consulted through the Open Journal System (OJS). This journal does not receive subscription payments, nor does it accept advertising.

Type of documents
In line with our editorial policies and aligned with Minciencias' definitions, we accept the following types of documents:

  • Research Articles: These detail the original results derived from completed research projects. The structure generally includes five fundamental sections: introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusions.
  • Reflection Articles: These present an academic discussion on a specific issue, supported by a literature review based on original texts. The author approaches the topic from an analytical, interpretative, and critical perspective. The suggested structure includes: introduction, development of the issue, the author’s original contribution, and conclusions.
  • Review Articles: These present the results of a systematic review of the existing literature on a specific topic. They organize, analyze, and integrate the results of published or unpublished research on a field of knowledge, contributing by providing a detailed analysis of the state of the art of the investigated issue. It is recommended to include at least 50 consulted references. The structure to follow includes: introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusions.
  • Translation of High-Impact Articles.
  • Book Reviews resulting from research.

Processing times
The estimation of the times related to the reception, evaluation, editing, and publication of the manuscript is described in the editorial process.
